Founder, Director & Coach
A native of Baltimore, MD., Kirk was a two time lacrosse High School All-American and All State football player at Dulaney High School. He is a graduate of University of Maryland where he captained the men’s lacrosse team to an ACC Championship and undefeated season in 1987. Kirk earned All ACC and NCAA Lacrosse All-American honors at Maryland. The University of Maryland awarded him The Edwin E Powell Trophy in 1987. After his senior year, Kirk was the #1 pick in the MILL draft and played professional box lacrosse for three years.
Kirk founded Victory Lacrosse in South Carolina in an effort to guide the youth in the Carolina’s to be leaders that will impact our world for good. As the girl’s lacrosse coach at Blythewood High School, he had a winning record of 59-0 with three undefeated seasons, four Regional Championships and two State Championships. He was also the boys’ lacrosse coach at Blythewood High School. In his second year with the Bengals, he led the team to a Regional Championship and their first play-off berth in five years. In 2009 and 2015 he was awarded Coach of the Year by SCHSLA and Richland District 2.
Coach Thurston lives in Blythewood, South Carolina with his wife, Lydia and four children Matthew, David, Kelsey, and Brittany with three dogs named, Nala, Zeus and Bella.
Head Coach and Resilience Trainer
A native of Louisiana, Chuck has more than 35 years of combined playing and coaching experience. Growing up in Germany Chuck’s main focus was on soccer where he played at many different levels from school, travel and German club teams. His teams have won many regional and conferences titles and in 1991 won the European Championship. He continued playing after joining the military competing for the U.S. Army team. He began his coaching career in 1999 when his oldest son was 3 years old and has coached in some capacity ever since.
Chuck retired from the military after 23 years of service and now coaches and instructs Soldiers on how to build mental toughness. He is certified from the University of Pennsylvania as a Master Resilience Trainer and teaches mental toughness and performance enhancement skills. He has a degree in Sports Medicine with a minor in Sports Psychology.
He was the Assistant Coach and defensive coordinator for the Blythewood High school boy’s lacrosse team for 10 years. He is currently an assistant coach at Heathwood Hall Episcopal School. He is married and has four children, three of which played or are currently playing lacrosse in college. Coach Barrow believes that sports and especially lacrosse are a great way to teach life skills that will have a lasting impact.
Director of Operations & Coach
Sean is a native of Blythewood and a graduate of the University of South Carolina. He grew up playing soccer but was able to watch lacrosse games with college players in the Cape Cod league during the summer when he was young. He immediately fell in love with the sport and has followed it as a spectator since.
Sean is passionate about growing youth lacrosse and ensuring kids in Columbia have the opportunity to play the Creator’s game. He coordinates Victory’s recreation leagues and travel teams and coordinates the collaboration and strategic planning with other SC and NC clubs to find ways to help each grow and succeed. He has been involved with Victory Lacrosse for almost 2 years. He has spent this time working to help establish a youth recreation program, youth travel teams, and finding ways to keep Columbia’s elite high school talent playing locally; with Victory’s program participation growing by close to 600% over this period.
He is currently an assistant coach at Heathwood Hall Episcopal School. He has previously coached with Blythewood High school boy’s lacrosse team. He enjoys watching his son Mac and his friends play lacrosse, and time outdoors hunting and boating.
Dustin is a Blythewood High School Alumni where he was a four-year varsity football and lacrosse player as well as a two time All State Lacrosse Player. Dustin graduated from Lees-McRae College, in Banner Elk, North Carolina and received a Business degree in Sport Management and a minor in coaching. Dustin was a two-way midfielder for the Bobcats, while also taking the majority of the draws at the faceoff X.
Upon graduating in 2016, Dustin moved to Columbus, Ohio where he was the Director of True Lacrosse; a year-round lacrosse training and development company. In Columbus Dustin managed and coached over 200 youth players the formed seven youth teams ranging from high school seniors to 3rd/4th graders. Under his coaching and mentoring Dustin had three of his players receive scholarships to play at the NCAA DI level and eight others receive scholarships to play NCAA DII & DIII lacrosse. Also, while in Columbus Dustin was the Head Coach at Berkshire Middle School that went on to place 3rd in the state tournament. The last 2 years, he was the Assistant NCAA DII Coach at Lees-McRae College.
As a young boy he has always been involved with sports playing anything he could be involved in. Once Dustin started playing lacrosse in high school, he fell in love with the sport and played year-round. He has a passion for the game of lacrosse and teaching kids not only the sport of lacrosse but how to carry themselves with dignity and grace. Dustin believes that continued growth and education propel us to greater heights as athletes and individuals.
