I can’t tell you how excited I am to be writing this letter. It has been on my mind and heart to start my own sports and leadership development program for long period of time and my dream has been aligned with a great friend, high school team mate and college adversary, Glen Miles. The time is finally here.
Victory Lacrosse is different than any other sports program that you have seen. I am truly concerned about the youth of America. Not because parents like us are doing a bad job of raising our children, but because our children are growing up in this day and age. We parents have difficulties really knowing what they are being exposed to. The issues, temptations and challenges that they face on a daily basis are much different than anything most of us have ever faced. False media images of success, gangs, drugs, internet, and video games just to name a few.
I want to create a place where you can leave your child in an environment for 5-10 hours per week and know that he or she is being taught the values and ideals that the greatest generation, our parents, taught us. As you read through our site you will see the values we will live by and the values we will teach. They are Truth, Faith, and Justice. Additionally you will see that our goal is not merely about winning or losing a game it is about winning or losing a heart. We will build your children up not tear them down. We want children of all abilities, from the beginner to the superstar athlete—we will teach them that their self esteem has nothing to do with their performance but everything to do with how they treat each other. We also want to partner with you to make sure they understand that their performance in the classroom will always take precedence over their opportunities on the field.
I was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland where I grew up playing football and lacrosse. I never specialized in one sport and I am not a fan of sports specialization. Victory Lacrosse offers year round performance training, lacrosse skills development and playing, as well as continuous leadership development opportunities. However, we have no intention of trying to take the place of your child’s primary sport season. We simply want to offer children of all playing abilities and desired participation levels the opportunity to be all that they can be.
Please carefully review the level of experience and background of the men and women who have helped develop the material we will be teaching and sharing with your children. If you are like me you will be excited about the potential. We have a very ambitious vision for your children. As confident as I am that we will accomplish this vision; I’m equally confident it won’t be easy. Join us at Victory Lacrosse as we set our sights on the following three goals: 1. Shape young people to be leaders of character. 2. Build a foundation for the future of our nation. 3. Teach the full definition of winning with grace– all while playing a game!
Feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions. We will be very accessible to each of you before and after our events.
Competing with Dignity. Winning with Grace. Victory.
